Umberto Boccioni (Italian, 1882–1916). Dynamism of the Human Body. Photo: Mauro Magliani, 1998. Civico Museo d’ Arte Contemporanea, Milan, Italy. Photo credit: Alinari/Art Resource, NY.
Unlike many of his colleagues in the Futurist school of art, in his later years, Boccioni seemed to focus on the simultaneity of movement through time—for instance, depicting the same person at different moments and from different perspectives within the same canvas—rather than translating movement as a series of motions frozen in time.
